The supply of fine wine from Bordeaux is strictly controlled by the Apellate Contrôlée Rules, which
restrict the total amount of wine that each Chateau can produce each harvest. As the wine will
start to be consumed from the moment it is bottled, and demand for
the finest vintages increases globally due to
increasing wealth and interest, prices
rise as supply is diminished.
